Dramaturgy

“How do we tell our stories without having to limit where we are on the stage or what mediums we are going to use to tell these stories?” Laurie Carlos, Performance Art Journal, 2012.

I hear Laurie ask this question each time I begin a new project and it helps me clarify my purpose as a dramaturg, directing me to make liberating creative choices. My work as a dramaturg can best be described as an arts instigator: one who dreams up ideas and moves them to fruition through deep collaboration in heartfelt community.
The following projects represent the most recent undertakings from my larger body of creative work that centers the experiences of people of the global majority with a deep understanding that theater is a potent place to share compassion, visions of liberation, and love for humanity.
