I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theater at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a place that has been my artistic and scholarly home for two decades. I write and perform original material; I teach theater practices honed by people of the global majority and theater history with a critical multicultural framework. I contribute meaningful research to the field of theater history, with an emphasis on Latinx theater, through the lens of my lived experience as a bilingual, Chicana feminist artist and scholar.

"There is always room at the table." Even if my mother never actually said these words out loud, she definitely instilled them in me at a very young age. Our home was the gathering place for parties where all of our extended family would come together to share food and music. It was also the place where family and friends knew that that they could stop by for coffee and conversation anytime, without calling ahead. I bring a collaborative spirit and a radically inclusive approach to theater making that honors my mother's artful way of sustaining family and community.
